FOREGN FESTIVAL AMONG THE YOUNG GENERATION

Talking about young generations is talking about teenagers like all of us. In our age it is a common to have desire of having fun like hanging out, shopping, and in this case attending a foreign festival which we could picture it as international concert, world tour, etc.

To make it easier, for a second let’s pretend we are the company who’s celebrating a Korean Music Festival (for example) in Indonesia. What we know, it is an advantage for us when we celebrate such kind of festival. The income increased, and the teens interested. So then it becomes our habit. But do we consider about the negative effects from that?

Young generations like I said; teenagers, most of them are easily influenced in the middle of globalization impact. Especially with new things, they would be watching, copying, then applying, with no filtering. Of course not all of them, but most. Because some countries including Indonesia has limited education with consumptive label, so the foreign cultures that we show are easily influence the people. For us, it is a big advantage for selling their culture. Selling their culture is selling their product. And what happen next, the young generations would be more consumptive.

Moreover the values in the Korean Music Festival that we show are surely not in accordance with Indonesian values. From how the singer dressed like, to the habits that indirectly they show, plastic surgery. These things could destroy their morality.

Considering all of those negative effects, and how the music festival doesn’t provide many benefit in addition to the entertainment and fun (if they cannot take the positive side of course) we could subtract the habits of celebrating that kind of festival. But the income will be decreased. So what can we do to prevent them? Personally in my thought, things that don’t deserve shouldn’t be shown. We could replace it with another foreign festival which is not only entertaining but educating. At least subtract things that don’t educate. So that the negative effect from the habit of celebrating foreign festival would be prevented.
